Reverse Chucky and Mini Reverse Chucky
We are pleased to offer two versions of Reverse Chuckies.
Please read the following information and refer to the pictures below to make your decision as to which best fits your woodturning application.
Please keep in mind that we also offer each version without the arbor. The arbor is interchangeable between the two versions.
If you purchase or have previously purchased a Reverse Chucky Complete , you will not need to purchase an additional arbor.
However, If you do not already own a Reverse Chucky with 12" Arbor; we will not sell you only the Cone and Drives. We simply cannot be responsible for the function of this product with a different arbor.

Reverse Chucky
The Reverse Chucky was developed to stabilize the workpiece when removing the tenon or finishing thin wall hollow vessels.
Included is a 3/4" X 10 threaded MT2 tapered, precision machined 6061 T6 Aircraft Aluminum Arbor approximately 12" long. A Cone (4.25" diameter X 3.5" and tapered down to 1" diameter) and 1", 2" and 3" diameter Drive Chuckies to enable using the Reverse Chucky with various size openings.

These Drive Chuckies are different than the other Drive Chuckies we offer; inasmuch as they do not have a recess in the threaded area and may not properly fit on a Live Center. We recommend that these only be used on an arbor.

Mini Reverse Chucky
The Mini Reverse Chucky is for those who make Hollow Forms with small openings and is also available in two options. The complete Mini Reverse Chucky includes the 12" Arbor and the other option is sans the arbor. This second option is for those that have previously purchased a Reverse Chucky as the arbors are interchangeable.
The Mini Reverse Chucky comes with a 3/4" X 10 threaded MT2 tapered precision machined 6061 T6 Aircraft Aluminum Arbor; approximately 12" long; two (2) cones and five drive chuckies.
Both options include two cones and five Drive Chuckies.
The two cones have a tapered nose one with a diameter of 1 1/4" and one cone with a diameter of 1 5/8".
The Drive Chucky's are 1", 1 1/8", 1 1/4",and 1 3/8" diameter.
A fifth drive known as a "Chucklet" is also included and is a machinable drive mounted on a 1/4" diameter arbor that inserts into the end of the 12" arbor. This allows holding hollow forms with less than a 1" opening. We thank Dr. David Keller for this suggestion.
If you already have a Reverse Chucky, you can use the same Chucky Arbor and only purchase this set.

Simply insert the rod and the appropriate Drive Chucky to the inside bottom of the vessel. Move the cone up to the vessel opening and make a snug fit.
Simply insert the rod and the appropriate Drive Chucky to the inside bottom of the vessel. Move the cone up to the vessel opening and make a snug fit.
Then move your Live Center up to the workpiece. The combination of the Cone, Rod, Drive Chucky and Live Center helps to stabilize and give the hollow vessel added support; preventing the vessel from cracking. Do not over tighten the Reverse Chucky to the workpiece.
There is a 1/4" hole and set screw in the end of the shaft that makes the Reverse and Mini Reverse Chuckies ideal for finish sanding, buffing, etc.
Simply insert a sanding disc or buff on a 1/4" diameter shank into the hole in the end of the arbor and secure with the provided set-screw.
Optional attachments are not included.
- This video shows how to install the Reverse Chucky Cone on the Arbor for the first time. WD-40 will aid in this process.
The series of pictures below shows ANOTHER benefit of the Reverse and Mini Reverse Chuckies.
Simply align a piece of tape with the end of the Reverse Chucky arbor and you can use it as an indicator for locating the bottom of your vessel.
We thank Rudy Lopez for bringing this additional use of the Reverse Chucky to our attention.

Need a longer arbor?
We offer a 3" Chucky Extension that can be doubled in length to 6" by purchasing two to 6" Chucky that insert into the end of the standard arbor.
These Extensions have a total length of 4" including the 1" shank. They fit into the 1/4" hole in the end of the 12" Reverse Chucky Arbor. But that is not all; they also have a 1/4" hole and 10-32 set screw enabling them to be extended or used with the aforementioned sanding/buffing options (shown above).
We recommend that the total length of the Reverse Chucky not exceed 21". ALWAYS use your tailstock live center when using a Reverse Chucky or Mini Reverse Chucky.

Tips: Spray the arbor with WD-40 to aid in moving the cone. The cone can be moved forward or backward on your lathe at a SLOW speed, but make sure the tailstock is brought up in place without the Drive Chucky mounted.
